My plan had been to try to post something on a regular basis...so much for plans. Maybe next month?! The beginning of summer has been busy. Kailee returned from college and four days later we left for vacation. As a result, I did not get my June 10 on 10 done until now. The pictures were taken, just sitting on the camera as many of my photos are. But photos deserve to be seen and enjoyed. So instead of feeling frustrated that I am behind I decided to just post Junes photos and call it good.

For the June 10 on 10 Kailee and I decided to try a Sitka theme. We took the afternoon to drive around and photograph different places in town. Hopefully places that felt distinctly Sitka. We had a great time driving around. Took some great pics and found some unusual signs along the way(they didn't make the final cut, but we had fun). Hope you enjoy the pics of Sitka.

For the Love of Red Doors

I love all things red...red doors are no exception. I take pictures of red doors wherever we go (below are a few of theses photos). When I finally had a door I could paint...I painted it red. There are several meanings for red doors. The Chinese see the door as lucky. During the days of the Underground Railroad, a red door meant the house was safe. It has even been said that Albert Einstein painted his door red so he could find his house...not sure if that is totally true or not, but sounds like a fun bit of trivia.

To me, a red door means "Welcome". I hope that all who enter our front door, feel welcome in our home. It is something my husband and I strive to do. I hope our home feels safe those visiting and those the Lord brings...through our Red Door.

The Start of Something New

Well....after a bit of encouragement and a little trepidation I have decided to join the world of blogging.Mostly to have a  creative outlet for my budding photography skills. Since the kids are not babies and I don't have the time for scrapbooking this seemed like the next step. I am not sure exactly what this will look like or turn into but it should be fun.

As a first post, I am going to include my May 10 on 10 photo challenge. The challenge is to take ten pictures on the tenth of each month, hopefully one an hour, and then do something with them. For this month, I was traveling to Seattle and my pictures reflect a day of travel...including packing, luggage, airplanes, eating out and the arrival at our destination...my parent's house.
Enjoy a look behind the red door!
